Dover Street Market

Dover Street Market in London’s Haymarket is a multi-level retail store developed by Rei Kawakubo, and her husband, Adrian Joffe. With installation like spaces and pop-ups, the retail space is well-known for its creative visual merchandising. Featuring bare walls, ceilings and eclectic fittings, Dover Street Market presents a notably industrial, anti-luxury aesthetic to fashion retail.

With its own acoustic artist, music and sound also plays a part in the Dover Street Market experience. The audio system, designed and installed by Marquee AV, merged the multiple solutions required to cover all needs of the client and store with a simple interface for the staff to operate.

To provide very high quality music for all the zones, Marquee AV used a combination of Sonos, B&W, RCF, Monitor Audio and Apart loudspeaker and Electro‑Voice amplifiers.

Unique playlists are created and transferred over the internet, then streamed locally. The complex system is controlled by Biamp’s Tesira unique integrated, networked AV processing and distribution platform, and is operated by simple in-wall remote panels.

In addition to providing superb quality music throughout the store, the system also incorporates a number of hidden loudspeakers that are used for immersive sound effects.
