The roots of Marquee are founded in a passion for music that goes back to the famous Marquee Club, which first opened in London in April 1958. The Marquee Club became the heart of the jazz and rhythm & blues scenes in London, where legends like Sonny Boy Williamson and Alexis Korner’s Blues Incorporated regularly played. For over four decades, the Marquee led the British popular music scene, hosting such names as the Rolling Stones, John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers, the Yardbirds, the Animals, Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie, Cream, Pink Floyd, The Who, Yes, Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, King Crimson, Genesis, the Moody Blues, the Clash, Ultravox, the Pretenders, the Police, the Cure, the Damned, Siouxsie and the Banshees and the Sex Pistols.

The sound engineers at The Marquee shared that passion for music and delivering great performances. Using technology to produce the music to the standard of perfection became a culture, and one that embraced change when better could be achieved. As the music evolved down the decades so has the technology, and Marquee AV has consistently led that change.
